September was another busy month for Modern Work, and while August was full of software related announcements, this month was all about another S. Surface was the main news point from a modern workplace point of view.
Devices have become a core part of the user experience in a hybrid workplace. The Microsoft Surface family of devices offer a premium experience across all price brackets and is a device family we are seeing more interest in from partners. Most people when they experience a Surface device will instantly fall in love, and quite often put up with some small challenges they may face all for the experience they get.
Through Teams calls over the last 18 months, I have used Whiteboard App and Pen input to show clients and partners alike how M365 SKU’s can deliver a comprehensive security posture via the cloud to end points. The feedback is always, “WOW! That is clever how you do that?” which shows how my device enhances the clients experience.
The global remote working that was forced on us by Covid-19 has highlighted the importance of good devices, allowing people to carry out multiple tasks, run multiple applications, and to allow seamless ways of communicating and collaborating with both their colleagues, and customers alike. I said this phrase quite a lot during our Surface webinar series, the office is not a location or space, the office “IS YOUR DEVICE”.
Firstly, let’s start with our webinar series. We have run multiple webinars over the course the September for our partners to get up to speed on the full range of Surface devices and the solutions that they can create by leveraging the Microsoft 365 SKUs to power those devices.
Each particular webinar went into different components of solutions to highlight the overall value. We started with a general introduction to Surface and family of devices. We then went a bit deeper into how the surface range has unique security features built into the hardware adding even more value for customers and partners with their security solutions. From there we went into looking at modern device delivery leveraging Surface and Autopilot. We then finished the series highlighting the power of the Surface hub 2S as a Teams room option for partners and customers alike to consider as they redesigned their workplaces and meeting spaces for a hybrid world of work.

Summary of the event and Product videos are here: Surface Event 2021: Here’s everything Microsoft announced, from Surface Duo 2 to Surface Laptop Studio – OnMSFT.com
We will be repeating our webinar series in the first quarter of 2022 and the focus will be very much on the new family of devices. One of the big announcements of the day was a new flagship model called the Surface studio laptop which brings the best of the Surface studio and merges it with the Surface book to give arguably the most powerful Surface device that has come to market since its launch 10 years ago. Another big announcement was the evolution of the Surface duo 2. A little more on that in the next section.
Finally, to round off this device segment. We all know that to get the best from your Surface device will require a small number of accessories to ensure you don’t fall foul of standard connectors that every conference room or indeed office space you walk into in the future will have. So, remember when quoting Surface and considering Surface get advice from our sales team on the best device format and accessories required that will optimize your customers experience. In relation to Surface some months back I was given a surface duo, as in the original, so that I could stress test it as a productivity device. My Blog on the Duo is here

In summary, the modern workplace team in MicroWarehouse are firm believers that the Surface device family should be considered by partners a part of their hybrid workplace solutions portfolio particularly when positioning Microsoft 365 premium skus.
I believe partners can deliver smarter and secure solutions to their customers by leveraging the power of Surface.
